“I’ll do it later…”

…But will you? Those three words are why your sink has dirty dishes in it right now. Ever since I implemented the two minute rule into my life, I get shit done (whether I like it or not).

So, what’s the two minute rule? Keep reading!

The Two Minute Rule: Goodbye Procrastination

Here’s the gist. If anything you need to get done will take two minutes or less to complete, do it right then.

A few examples:

  • That work email you’ve been putting off replying to

  • Changing into gym clothes to finally get that workout in for the day

  • Practicing that new hobby you’ve been trying to get into

You might be thinking these things seem pretty simple, right? How are two minutes going to make any difference in my day?

Just wait. When I was introduced to this idea, I was SHOCKED with the amount of times during the day I was forced to comply with my self-inflicted rule. There are so many little things that you might usually put off until later, and those things add up.

Not only will this save you time, but it's also a fantastic mindset practice. By training yourself to address small tasks immediately, you build discipline and create a sense of accomplishment. Plus, it sets the stage for tackling more significant projects.

One Thing To Try

You guessed it: if the two minute rule crosses your mind this week when you have a task at hand, put it into practice! Tag @nc.fit on Instagram to share all the things you’re getting done because it’ll happen, again, whether you like it or not. Start winning your time back!
